I agree, once they are tried and convicted, and give ONE appeal, then they should be put to death. There are way too many people that are given the death penalty and sit on death row for the rest of their pathetic life. They get free cable TV, free meals, a free roof over their head, and what do they have to do for that? Nothing, sit!
I think they should bring back chain-gangs, make prisoners work 12-14 hours a day, doing HARD labor. I'd bet crime rates would go way down.

In essence, yes I do support capital punishment. However, I am concerned about the number of persons who have been cleared of crimes after DNA evidence was examined and the accused had spent years in prison. That concern is greatly heightened when you consider taking another persons life as punishment for a crime. The problem is that this is how our system works and until we find a 'cure' then we will continue on that path. I disagree with the other answerer in that he believes if one innocent is killed out of 50,000 then it's ok. That would make us no different than the killer himself in my book. Therein lies the problem.

YES, capital punishment should be enforced and we should streamline the process so it doesn't take so long to execute these vermin. Of course we have to be careful we don't execute an innocent person, but the proven sociopaths, killers, child rapists, all should be put to death because they will continue to hurt innocent people for as long as they are on this earth. We owe it to our loved ones and the people we care about to wipe of the face of the earth these evil people who are beyond rehabilitation and deserve to die.

If you are taking a poll then put me down as supporting capital punishment. There is a very old story about a US president visiting the premier of Russia during the 1960's when Russia had very little narcotics problems. The US president said "Tell me Mr Krouschof why do you have no drug problems in the USSR" The Russian responded with a slight smirk."The firing squad".

i personally would find the cheapest way to empty out death row. after it was empty, it would give both criminals and juries cause to think about their actions. beside murder, i would extend it to rape, and other sex crimes.
