i sometimes wish that dr naismith had not hooked a peach basket on a ten foot pole...i mean even if you are a very tall height like 6'0 to 6'3 you still have to be a good junper to dunk well.if you are below 6 feet you have to be an EXCEPTIONAL jumper to dunk...and if you are below 5'7 you can practically DREAM of dunking unless you names spudd webb...maybe they can lower the rim to 9'6 and make it a commomers game rather then a tall mans game granted the dunks would not be as spectacular...

no i dont wish it was lower. and 6' is the average height for a male... not considered "very tall."
look at some of the best players of all time, magic johnson, larry bird, isaiah thomas, allen iverson, etc. sure they can all dunk, but NONE of them dominated the game by dunking. magic used... well... magic. bird used the three. thomas used his court vision and excellent scoring and iverson uses his speed and scoring abilities.
few players dominate the game wit dunking, and thats including MJ23... sure he is the best dunker ever, but he didnt win championships by dunking. he would hit the buzzer beater from 15 feet to win, not go up for a dunk.
so again... i would want it to be 10 feet.

I think it is at a good height, plus i have an adjustable court so whenever I just wanna mess around I just lower it to 8 feet and have a little dunk contest

Basketball is a great sport even if you can't dunk.
Keep up the dribbling, shooting, passing, and defense you know how to play basketball.
If it was shorter then where's the fun?
So no I would not want it to be shorter.
If you do want to dunk, then I suggest an adjustable hoop.
That way you can set it to your height.

naa i am 5 4 and i play for a high school basketball team. dunking isnt the only thing that makes a basketball player such a graet player. it is the shooting, handles, and passing. plus, i can not possibly shoot on something lower than 10 feet, i am just use to it

Yeah, sometimes i guess.... I'm 5'10" and i can get the rim sometimes without a ball, and that's pretty good for a 13 year old. But the rim is fine the way it is, makes you want to jump higher, just teasing you to get up there so high.

no way thats way too short its good as it is it wud help taller players beat shorter players like nothing so what is the point of lowerin the hoops its perfect the way it is yea short players has a better chance of dunking but its going to be way easier for tall players to dunk and lay-up

It might even make it more of a tall man's sport... they can block better if the rim was lowered... also... the tall man would put the ball in the basket much easier... so no... i dont
