what does ^ mean in an equation and how do i write a mixed number in an equation on the computer?

like on a calculator i use the unit sign and the slash mark(/) but i don't know how to on the computer

like: 3^2 means 3 to the 2nd power
or: 3^3 means 3 to the 3rd power

Like 5^3 mean 5 to the power of 3.
So 5 times 5 times 5 times 5.
