what kind of computer do you have ? what kind of modem internal and what is your computer speed your equipment might be out of date in which case dsl won't speed up your downloads your computer will only accept information so fast sounds to me like your internal modem needs a upgrade

There is a certain amount of "overhead" in the tranmission of files of any kind.
That takes up some of the bandwidth.
What are you complaining about? MY 56K dial up connects at 45.2, and downloads, at best, at 7-8Kb/s.
You have to remember that you are NOT the only one on the internet, or your isp, and maybe not even on the site at any given time.

are you running threw a router ? If so u may need to configure it. Also i would check to see if there are line filters on every jack in the home. If that doesnt work i suggest contacting your provider and asking them how far you are from the centrel location. The further away you are the weaker the signal.

what's your download sync speed supposed to be? Make sure all your filters are in place and properly connected. Make sure there is no extraneous noise on the phone line as this can really mess up your connection.

it could be your modem--try unplugging it for 5 or so seconds and see if it helps---it made a difference for me..that was from my ISP
