We have only been together for a few months. We are semi-serious, but obviously no "I-love-you's" have been exchanged. He had mentioned getting me a book (Uhhmm...Ok..thanks.) I won't spend over a $100.

Okay, so I am a little bitter about the book. But is my fault for seeming interested.
Break up with him because he's getting me a book? Give me a break.

So, apparently I should break up with him or tell him I love him?!
I don't need relationship advice, just a nice gift. I'm thinking this:

and a cool mug, coz he really likes tea. Good?

Depends on the book. Some of my favorite gifts have been books. I love to read, and have a LOT of books. But this is a semi-serious boyfriend? Get him a sweater or something non-committal, and a little piece and quiet. That's ALWAYS a nice gift.

He probably doesn't know what he wants any more than other guys. Girls are the best at choosing sentimental gifts to give their boyfriend to express their feelings. My guess is that if you mention, by way of GENERAL conversation, the types of sentimental gifts that a girl could give her boyfriend of a few months, you can judge by his reaction those gifts that HE would NOT want to get. AND you might get a clue about the type of sentimental gift HE would like to get. NO DRAMA. Just a vague discussion of the "concept". He should feel NO pressure. Guys sometimes don't respond well to questions about what sentimental gift they want.

Love coupons. They don't cost a dime and they can be tailored to your relationship level/intensity. They can be tame or wild. 90% of the time he won't use them all. So just give them to him in a card and you seem like the thoughful sweetheart and you can feel better when he gives you a book.

if hes buying u a book, than just buy him a c.d. or something small. do not waste over 100 dollards if he said hes buying u a book and u obviously dont seem to like the idea.

from the way you talk about him i dont think you should get him a gift. in fact i think you need to be finished wih him. wait for a better guy. one that gives more love and something more than a book(because thats REAL lame). Merry christmas, and i hope you find some good in your situation.

Keep it minimal...What sort of things does he like to do? If you have only been dating for a few months, I wouldn't go over board...A nice little card and maybe offer to make him dinner some night.

get him something he'd like. if he's a bookworm, get him a good book. athelete? tickets to a game. gadget guru? ipod nano. it's hard for us to thing of something for him if we don't know much about him.
try www.gifts.com/finder . you can take a quiz and see what you should get him based on his personality.
good luck, and merry christmas!
