i so spelled that wrong

I think Mass is the only state where marriage is legal, but there are others that allow same sex unions - similar to marriage with out many of the benefits.... some of these states are Hawaii, California, Vermont, and New Jersey is working on it.

Right now Massachusetts. There are civil union set ups in a handful of states. During the last election Arizonza rejected a law that would have banned gay marriage.

Howver, it is a little more complex than that. Per the full, faith and credit clause of the constituion other states must give validity to marriages in other states. Thus a Massachusetts marriage is valid in every other state, even if the state specifically prohibits gay marriage.

Gay marriage proper is legal in Massachusetts. Civil unions are here in Connecticut, and I believe in Vermont and New Jersey as well. I may have left out a state or two.
