What chair?
You must be studying Renee Descartes. "I think therefore I am"
The only thing he found to be real was the fact that he was a "thinking thing". He could prove nothing else.

just your questioning the reality of the chair - conveys your thought that it mite be there. If others who may or may not exist perceive the forces that make up this chair describe independently the same chair and convey such to you then there is some more credence to its existent. BUT the most powerful proof is for you to stand at attention for days straight - your only relief is for you upon admitting that the chair is real is to sit on it - well go ahead and rest your sorry sole.

The important thing to remember is that "there is no spoon" or, in this case, a chair. All that we know of physical science starts to break down at a subatomic level, thus positing the theory that reality is, or has the potential to be, as fluid as water. Reality, on a subatomic level, is just an illusion. As we perceive reality, the chair is there. But to someone who could perceive and interact with matter on a subatomic level, nothing would exist unless that person wanted it to. Like the girl in X-men who can walk thru walls.

Well, the chair is perceived by the five sences as real. Nothing outside of what is percieved by the five sences can be concieved as real. Anything outside what is percivable by the five sences can't be on the same plane of existence as us. The chair exists as much as we do. The mind is connected to the body. Our thoughts exist just as much as we do, and the chair does.
I think, therefore I am
The chair exists because we do and we can percieve the chair by the five sences.
There's my claim, but I know that it is easily arguable.

Does it support your butt?
Then it is as real as your butt. Since both your butt, and the chair have the same reality\unreality, it doesn't matter.
