My school is going to have a valentines day dance. I am in the 7th grade and it will be my first dance. My problem: the only guy I like definitely likes my best friend and while my best friend thinks I should ask him (she is fully aware he likes her) I am too shy. I have a guy friend who I'm very comfortable around and we already get teased a lot by people who think that we're boyfriend/girlfriend, which we're not. If I'm mad at him about somehting or other, I get remarks such as "Aw, lovers fighting", etc. etc. I've learned to ignore it. Would it be appropriate for me to ask this friend to the dance (oh and several of my friends think I SHOULD go out with him) as FRIENDS or would that look weird? Please help!

going with your friend to a dance as friends is PERFECTLY NORMAL in fact I'm in 9th grade and I did that this year to my homecoming dance as did many of my other friends. If people suspect you're going out just explain to them that you're not and if they have problems with that and be retarded and spread rumors that you are. Just ignore them, they're losers.

i once had this problem (back in the daya now im in 8th grade).... not relay the same... i got this friend thats a girl like asister i nevr had... lets all her cookimonster. ppl used to think we were going out (she would only go out with me if i was dreaming). any way i dont hink you should go to the dance with anyone unless they are very very open cuz if u go with um then ur stuk with em all night. iv made this mistake.

I have the sam eproblem with my friend .. and like .. if we were to have a dance i would definately take my friend... so I would say yes you should just to test and see if you like him more than a friend... do you get what i mean?? well hope it all works out for you byes

go with your friend every girl knows to let her friend have the guy who likes her otherwise you are not a true friend you will hopefully find a guy who likes you back for the next dance

ask youre guy friend and have fun you have plenty of crap ahead of you with relationships don't be in such a hurry anddon't listen to other girls when they tell you to do something esp date their crush thats looking for a whole other headache and friendship murder

i think you should go for it with ur friend. im in 8th grade so i noe ur problems. i went out with my friend in 7th grade and we are still together. i love him hes great and know one understands me like he does. my friends made fun of me too actually ALOT but ended up knowing that he was perrrrrfect for me

the worst he will say is no, but if you don't ask you'll never know. And if he does say no, don't let him know it upsets you, go with a group of your friends and have a great time anyways...good luck
