Water, in particular, is one of Canada's resources that the U.S. is in great need of, and that need will likely increase in the future.

The good people of Canada would rise up and demand fair treatment. The Canadian government would ad hear to the voice of the people thus instating the Canadian/United States International Hug Day! Then we would all form a circle, hold hands and sing songs. Then all sit down and watch a good hockey game... Like that scenario? What if the U.S. started withholding it's resources, everyone gets chapped and we go into total war? I'd rather just get along and settle things fairly...

Ever thought of conserving the resources you have? The united states has all the water that they need its just used poorly and inefficiently.
One of the answer pointed out that not selling our oil to the us would be silly, well its starting to go to china... not so silly.
Another person pointed out that Military motive could be used... maybe not right now but the way things are going it might happen as the us doesn't follow NAFTA trade rulings anyway ie softwood lumber whats to stop them from invading another country *ponders* nothing....

Economic measures. Canada will be hurt more by the US not trading with it than the US would be from not trading with Canada.
Military measures would not be considered, as Canada and the US are fellow allies in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

The US can take many ideas from Canada in the form of healthcare and some other things. They may pay higher taxes but they also get excellent healthcare. Something we definitiely do not have here.

We actually import more oil from canada than any other country.
Countries are free to trade or refuse to trade with the U.S. with no reprocussions.
If a country, however decides to give safe haven to those who attack our country, and other things, like swear they will destroy us, and develop weapons illegally, we may decide to defend ourselves.

Canada needs us as bad as we need them. We are their number one trading partner. It would never happen.

LOL they are not "sharing" any of their resources, they are selling them on the free market. Of course they could refuse to sell their oil, but that would be pretty stupid, don't you agree?

i live in michigan and trash is exported from canada to the us(esp. michigan)every day
