Today, Terry Bradshaw, who led the Steelers to 4 Superbowl wins, said Shanahan was STUPID for making the move to replace Plummer with Cutler as QB this late in the season.
He said he should have done it 5 or 6 games ago, or wait until the beginning of next season.
Contrast that to QB's who HAVE been doing really badly this season - Brett Favre, Grossman,- who've not been replaced.
The playoffs elevate the games of veterans, and I think Plummer would've rose to the occasion, if allowed to play out the rest of the season.
Football fans, what say you?
Please, real answers, not just "Plummer sucks", et al.

"LuckyLil", Plummer took the Broncos to the playoffs and lost only to the Steelers after steering his team to victory over New England.
I'd always thought Plummer was great for Denver after now doing so well in Arizona. Sometimes a shift to a new team is all it takes.
Look at Joey Harrington in Miami now.

Oh I hated this decision. I think it was a bad move. And I can't stand the Plummer critics.....especially those that can't make a point. Excuse me, but when you're up by 17 points (vs. the Chargers game 1), it's not the quarterback's fault you lose the game.

I think this was the worst call Shanahan's made. I really like him though, so don't get me wrong. I think Plummer is a good QB. I think Cutler has the chance to be a great QB. But I think it was a BAD move doing it mid season. Especially when you're still vying for division championship.

Overall, I think the biggest thing that is hurting us this year is the lost of Kubiak. I was so sad to see him leave and I know it's hurting us. He was one of the best things to happen to the Broncos coaching staff.

I think Jake should have gotten to finish out the season. Let Jay start fresh with a new year.

Oh yeah, and BTW, it really irks me that the Denver QB position has such great expectations after Elway. NO ONE is going to go in there first thing and look like Elway in his later career. Remember his rookie season?!?!? Yup.....he sucked too. I even recall him lining up under the guard in his early career!!!

I am a BIG Denver Broncos fan, and have been rooting on Plummer for many years, but he was not getting it done. Mike Shanahan made his decision because he is a very strategical coach and his #1 goal is not to get into the playoffs, it is to get into and win the super bowl.

Jake Plummer has taken the broncos to the playoffs three times, and he has had HORRIBLE performance in all three. That does not help Plummer.

Shanahan feels that if he gets his rookie quarterback in this season, maybe next season or the 2008 season will be a break through season and Cutler, not Plummer will lead them to a Super Bowl.

I have no doubt that Cutler will be a Super Bowl champ before his long achievement filled career

If Shanahan had an experienced NFL QB as the backup, it would not nhave been so bad. However, leaving the team in the hands of an untested rookie was a big time mistake. However, on the other hand, Lovie Smith is even worse for sticking with Rex Grossman when he has Brian Griese to fall back on.

You can throw Jon Kitna in that group, lol, I like the guy but he just looks awfully frustrated out there...

Anyway, yes pulling Plummer was a huge mistake...if they were 2-8 that is one thing but they went to the conference championship game last season with Plummer, and they are a run oriented team to begin with. Cutler might have looked great in the preseason (against the Lions, lol again) but there was no reason to go to a rookie on that team...

But the defense hasnt been doing so hot either...

second that about time, Shanahan is previous hat and has been on the grounds that that 365 days that they went the AFC identify recreation. Shanahan is a good coach, he desires a sparkling placing although, i imagine he replaced into getting stale in Denver. he will be decrease back with yet another crew and he will do properly. He replaced into only in Denver too lengthy i imagine and became complacent.

Mike Shanahan must have got hit in the head. He should have replaced Jake last month or more. I think the last 2 QB's were wrong for the Broncos, but it's not my job. (I wish it was). Maybe they should consider replacing Shanahan.
