I'm quite surprised it is called the grand canyon as you know the americans impress themselves with we are the biggest or have the biggest or are the fastest don't believe me where did the gas guzzlers start from etc I think they should rename with a name more suited to their culture like tiny canyon

It might be called the "grand" canyon because it costs a "grand" to go and see the darn thing (unless your local of course).
But personally i think its meant to be a prepresentation of its grand size in general terms; as in vast.
