If the scratches aren't deep, and you're lucky, you can buff it out with some compound. You simply apply a thin layer and rub it in with a soft towel, let it sit for a minute and wipe off. Just go to your local Autozone, Pepboys, etc. and they'll know what you're looking for. If the scratches are deeper than that, you'll need some touch up paint. Color match the paint first through the paint code behind your door panel. It's a lot more complicated since you'll need to apply multiple coats and wet sand it between coats, so your best bet is to take it to an autobody/paint shop.

First off, wash the car and then get some turtle wax and see if you can buff some of them out. Many "scratches" are just on the surface of the clear coat. You can buff these out with wax.
Second, go to the car dealership and figure out what your car's color is. You can buy a scratch pen to fill in those scratches with. They should have a match for your color. You can also try a local auto supply store. Keep in mind that if your car is older the paint may have faded. You might need to get a few colors in that "family" to see which will match best. In that case the auto parts store is your best bet.
Good luck!

Try some of that wax that hides scratches. You can buy it to match the color of your vehicle. If the scratches are too deep for that buy a small container of touch up paint from Wal Mart or the auto parts store. Some scratches can be buffed out also.

Yes, buy some spray touchup paint in either your actual car color at an auto parts store, or one very close to it. Spray some into the top of the spray can until there is enough in there to get a small artist paint brush into and then you can use the brush to put paint in the scratches or nicks.

I just took my to my local body shop and the "wet sanded" it for me and it only cost $150. Then I took it to the car wash and now it looks like new. I had some bad deep scratches and had to turn my BMW back in because the lease was up. They didn't charge me anything for damage.
