Glazes are made of minerals and minerals are rocks.
so they probadly used rocks from a round them, grinded them into powders and used them.you need to research on the composition of the area around them and experiment with them.
oh yes, not all glazes(a glaze is an additional layer of material over the original clay body to protect or just to serve as a surface for decoration) are shiny and clay of another colour may also be used a glaze. other than glazes they used oxides and coloured clays to add colour to their pots.
God bless,

well technically, most Indians didn't glaze their pottery because if you haven't noticed, Indian pottery isn't shiny, and glaze makes pottery shiny.
is that a question on your homework or are you just wondering?

Because thats a stupid question, babe.
