I am curious to see what kind of answers you receive on this one.
I myself have alot of food service experiance and was wondering the same.
My first thought was to have a really professional card made and pound the pavement.
However working for a firm that offers consulting services might be the way to go first.

Like anything else it's best to learn the ins and outs of how it works before you take it out there on your own.

Don't forget to do some business planning. Remember to charge well for your work. Expect lengthy consultations and telephone conversations. You may not be able to charge for this, so make it up elsewhere. It's the dialogue that builds the business.

I agree you need to be an expert. I find just talking to people generates interest and business. Once you're qualified, they just gravitate toward you.

You also might consider picking up some guides. The Seven Cs of Consulting is one option (link below). You're going to need to deal with many different people with many different styles. It's good to know what to expect and how to interact with your clients.

First, you need to have substantial expertise in an area that you want to consult in. It helps to have a large circle of contacts who would be potential customers for your consulting business.

Put out the word to your contacts that you're available for consulting.

I even have truthfully no concept what you are attempting to ask right here. EDIT: If I, or everyone else, is going to grant accounting advice, we can opt for diverse extra advice.
