The reason there was a separation is very important. If you still want the ex back you should wait as several months and let yourself heal and give them time to evaluate their choice. In this instance you are in danger of a rebound relationship which could hurt you further. If you are the one leaving then at least a three month gap to be alone and be content with your choice is wise.

Date in about 6 months, but don't get serious for at least two years. Even 6 months may be too early for some people to date. It depends on how much anger and resentment you hold inside.

Before you even THINK of dating, you should work on yourself for awhile...Don't try to validate yourself or your self worth by trying to get back into another relationship...take the time to grow and learn from your mistakes. Take a vacation that will sooth your soul, find a hobby that you can do alone, explore your sexuality- learn what makes YOU tick! Get more involved with your religion or learn to meditate, go to some day spas and hang out with your girlfriends...In other words- this could be a real, eye opening experience for you, take advantage of it!

I don't think there is a "right" length of time. You should take some time to heal from the last relationship before getting into a new one. Make sure one door is closed before opening another and there is no hurry. Be careful out there ....there are a lot of dogs.

You don't start dating until you are divorced. If you have children, you wait a lot longer.

It depends on you. no time frame is accurate accept the one you place on yourself. Ive heard that when people get divorced or their spouses die they want to get married soon after, because they feel lonely. You get used to being married, not nec. the person, but the feeling..

They shouldn't because being seperated means they are STILL married. Only a divorce decree disolves the marriage contract.
