An alloy is a combination, either in solution or compound, of two or more elements, at least one of which is a metal, and where the resulting material has metallic properties. The resulting metallic substance has different properties (sometimes significantly different) from those of its components.

Example;Steel is a metal alloy whose major component is iron, with carbon content between 0.02% and 1.7% by weight.

Alloys are made from many different metals. For example aluminum alloy wheels, are the most popular for mounting tires on to cars. Alloys are made up of mixing 2 or more metals together.

Hope this helps.

An alloy is a combination of substances, a metal being one of them. Steel is an example. It's made of iron and carbon melted together. Alloys are made because they have better properties than the original substances. Iron and carbon aren't very strong alone, but combined they are much much stronger.
