I always thought it meant like grungy old projects, til I moved there and it's not so bad.

No frills, makeshift, what you make with what you got. You know, poor people in the ghetto. We put water in the dishwashing soap for plates and keep a whole bottle working for a month. Or putting ketchup on something to make it "fancier." Like... "those shoes aren't Jordans, they're Jordens. That's so ghetto."
And no, I'm not making fun of black people or anything. I live in a Bronx ghetto. Just in case anyone feels like reporting me for answering a question on Y!A. I mean, really...

ok this might be a little easy for me since i live in the ghetto (Oakland) to me ghetto means not as preppy.. like the boys well most boys that live in tha ghetto wear white T`s almost every days or black ones they dont wear other kinds or it can mean throwin` up where you stay.. say like the dirty thirties alot of people get shot caus of what they "rep" well i dont know the exact answer but thats what i think

Pretty lame some people think it's cool to be ghetto. I will hire them to wash my floors someday for minimum wage. Sorry, but it's 'da truff!!
