I have a co-worker that LOVES rap music with a passion. She puts that junk as loud as it is allowed at my job. I can't stand it! It is extremely vulgar, absolutely banal, very violent and is annoying after 3 hours of it. I feel like a jack-hammer is constantly hitting my head. I already hate being there, the last thing I need is listening to such "low" music. Rap does not promote knowledge, love or respect for one another. In most songs, women (and men) are seen as mere sexual objects and nothing less. Why would people enjoy listening to such horrible stuff????? What's the benefit????

I don't listen to it. i am a Christian, and I find most of it extremely offensive for the reasons you give.

There are a few rap songs out there, which are not dirty and are of a Christian nature, but they are only the tiniest microscopic bit, and you will never hear them on the radio.

There is no benifit!!!!! I wopuldnt even consider rap music! Just Retards Attempting Poetry. I dont know why people listen to rap but its becoming so popular the good rock and pop bands who deserve to make money for their songs are suffering because rap is the only thing on the radio these days. Maybe you could ask her nicely to turn it down or turn on some of the music you like as loud as she has hers. Good Luck!

First I can only say why I like rap music... I dont like it all, but I enjoy most of them. You see, I like music and I like rap because it leaves me in awe of the musical skill it must take to create full length songs with a beat so constent and then to use the beat to their advantage. I also disagree with your statment about all or most rap music being about sex and drugs. To show this I would like to point out two songs (although a bit old now) from Eminim who although I disagree with every song of his I have heard, I must respect his skill and masterful ease with beat and words.

First I would like to mention a song he made called Mosh. You can look up the lyrics or hear it online. It is a song about politics and policys. Secound I would like to point out Mocking Bird (spelling) which is Eminem expressing his sorrow about not getting to see his dauther that often. One of my personal fravorites of his is When I'm Gone which is him thinking about his life and his legacy he would leave if he died, but I digress.

I disagree with your assumption that rap does not "promote knowledge, love or respect for one another". Some does not but also some do the afore mentioned.

I used to not like this type of music but one of my freinds gave me a "proper introduction" to it and I realized that I was being stubborn. Mabee you need a freind who likes the stuff to let you listen to some he thinks you like. As many people say first impressions are important.

BTW.... Some people just dont like certin types of music, if you give rap a fair chance and still dont like it see if their are some song you can tolerate at least and talk to the person about possible only playing songs that are "clean lyrics" (this reffers mainly to cussing and vulgarities).
