Well first of all;
semen is the liquid like matter that gives sperm shape.
sperm are tiny cells that swim in this semen.

Now, which would have a higher chance to impregnate.

Semen with sperm in a glob the size of a rubber ball,
Or if the glob was smeared.
Because oxygen would get to the sperm faster the smeared one would die pretty fast right?

Why are you trying to impregnant something with seman outside in an unnatural uncontrolled environment?

The purpose of semen is to act as a protectant, and a catalist for the delivery of the sperm cells into the female reproductive tract. While scientists arent sure exactly what purpose the semen play in relation to the sperm, new studies suggest that it sustains the sperm cells, giving them energy to reach the goal of impregnantion.

This design is meant to function from within the female reproductive tract, which is why the male genitilia must enter the female for the best chances of conception to occure. Semen, and sperm are sensitive to many things, the greatest being temperature. Sperm cells cannot survive at room termp, in poor pH, or without the moisture of the seman to protect them, to name a few.

Really the question is silly, but in regards to your question, in theory the sperm smeared out on a surface would be more rapidly exposed to the elements, and probably die off more quickly than the sperm in a 'glob'. But i doubt theres very many studies that have looked into this likeliness.

Semen liquifies very quickly after being ejaculated. At first, there are globs of sperm in the fluid from the prostate, and the semen is (for lack of a better term) "chunky". After a few minutes the sperm dissolved into the fluid and becomes very runny. So, if you look at what nature does, nature votes for runny sperm inside the female.
