There's alot ot consider with this question, the size of the school, 50 students or 2000 students, how many teams will the school have: some have only varsity while others have freshman, jv, varsity, what is the coach looking for, you could be good at one on one, but not a team player, played for eight years, when? starting in the first grade in a recreation league to eight grade? how good are their grades, 1.67 (C-) GPA is average

A person can only play 4-years of High School.
Also, can only play 4-years of College. Grade school has nothing to do with the years.

Another thing to keep mind there is age limits for basketball players in grade and high school.

Hopes that helps:

16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

If people play that lon, usually they do... But there is a fact. that all basketball players( even good one) can't make it into high school. Even though you are the best in your school, in the tryouts, you might be too nervous and play horribly. That might happen.
