Im going to explain a few of them so pay attention kid. lol, j/k

ok, 8z-1=11, you want to solve for (z) meaning that you want to get it on one side by itself with the numbers on the other. You must understand that if you do something on one side of the equation you must do the same thing to the other side of the equation. So, first we want to get rid of the (-1), how do we do that? The answer, add 1 to both sides thus canceling out the (-1) on the side with the (z), also called the variable. Now your equation should look like this=> 8(z)=12 or 8z=12 same thing.

Now we want to get rid of the 8 that is attached to the (z). How do we do that? The answer: We divide both sides by 8 thus canceling out the 8. Your equation should look like this => 1(z)=(12/8) or z= (12/8) thats the answer! However you should simplify and the answer would look like this z=(3/2) .

Also to check your answer you can put the answer you go for z and plug it into the equation and it should make the equation true.

For example 8z-1=11 put you z answer in 8*(3/2) - 1=11 now check it. To do this multiply 3/2 times 8 and you get 12 now minus one and you get 11. The answer is correct.

um..okay..

for the first one: 8z-1=11 . add the one to both sides, so 8z-1+1=11+1, so 8z=12, divide both sides by 8, so z=12/8 . the rest of the stuff looks like its basically the same type of concept..

good luck ;)

if you need more help..just say so and I'll do my best
