Unfortunately there are not enough sponsors for Hocky, Football and other games as compared to Cricket. As far as advertisements are concerned, these are also very less for these games. Over the years, particularly after India Won Cricket World Cup in 1983, popularity and craze for Cricket has increased and it has become a game minting money. BCCI is today is the richest Cricket Board and as such can afford to pay substantial amounts for the development of Cricket, whereas this is not the case with other games.

Who says that they don't play all these sports. Its just that they aren't given alot of importance. India is playing hockey in the Asian games. They took part in the worldcup too. India took part in the Football Asia cup this year. And alot of tennis is being played now, like the Sunfeast open.

why do that? look at usa they have their main sport-baseball, they don't use any money to develope other sports. other sports develope on their own. Thats just how it goes, USA forgets every sport that they didn't make and India forgets every sport other than cricket. Why waste money when there's no interest in other sports, you don't see USA putting in money for cricket because there's not much interest there. Cricket is great any way.

we do play football, hockey and athletics but our record in international arena are mostly pathetic; it was and has been like this even before cricket became so popular in India - so why blame cricket !
