I dont think they all think they are better than americans. you can find some americans who would claim they are better than the brits. But i mean, they could think so because america is basically just a fragment of the brits...the founding fathers were british, they lost their roots and started a new treee...so the original must be growing bigger, since the new one had to grow. Like my analogy?

I'm sure for many of the same reasons that some americans think they are better than the british or any other people...
The actual fact is, we are different...neither is necessarily better than the other...each group has some "things" that are better and some that are not...

Americans kicked their butts out over 200 years ago, and twice in the last century America saved the Brits from the Germans. It's a combination of jealousy, hatred, and insecurity that expresses itself in arrogance, but next time they are in trouble, they will beg the USA for help again...
And with the current islamic invasion that may come sooner that the Brits expect, but don't worry. The USA will save them again. What are friends for?

In spite of the class system, and in many ways because of it, the British are, on the average, more literate than Americans. And they have a better political system, and are a lot less litigious - with fairer laws, on balance, despite the fact that the American system evolved (or some say devolved) from their system. They have a lot less people in jail, per capita, as well.
So when they look across the big pond at our shenanigans, at our President and his gang of goofball cronies, at the anti-evolutionist religious right, and so on and so forth, it's hard for them not to snicker, or to remind themselves that many of us (as do I) regard Great Britain as our ancestral home.
And they had Darwin and Shakespeare, whose influences are still stongly imbedded in their culture. We have the Snopes and O.J. Simpson trials to remind us of our levels of sophistication.
They never had anyone like Abe Lincoln, however. So there's hope for us yet.

I've never heard a Brit say they were better than us. Pretty sure they feel that way about the French though.

I don't either. There are just differences that resulted from such a long separation. Other than that, a human is a human.
