Shopping is kinda like a 'national hobby' here, as there are shopping malls everywhere in Singapore. The most popular one being along the Orchard Road district. However, shopping isn't the only thing you can do in Singapore. Here are the few places that you should visit: Singapore Zoo: One of a kind zoo with an open concept, to bring the animals closer to their natural habitat. Night Safari: The world's 1st Night Safari, showcasing animals Sentosa: Singapore's Island Resort. A fun place for all. Beaches, fountain showcase, Underwater World, Dolphin Lagoon... great for the family!!! City Area: A tour around the City can bring you to places like Esplanade (Singapore's premier arts centre), the Merlion Park, Boat Quay, Clarke Quay etc... hop onto the Hippo/Ducktours :) Chinatown/Little India/Kampong Glam: Experience the different races and cultures in Singapore. Newton Hawker Centre - Savour Singapore's delicacies here. Must-try food: Black Pepper/Chilli Crab Enjoy Singapore!!!

Criminals? I doubt you'll have much to worry about there. It's quite safe in Singapore.
Now, the laws are what you really should be watching out for. Anyway, here are some.
Don't chew gum(Only exception would be the NRT(nicotine replacement therapy) gum)
Don't litter
Don't smoke in a no smoking area
No food or drinks on any public transport
Just a few. Anyway, some nice places to visit would be Sentosa, Orchard Road, Suntec City, Singapore Zoo/Night Safari. Also, you can eat some food at hawker centres if you'd like to try some famous local dishes.

Let's see, just off the top of my head...
Don't litter.
Don't chew gum.
Don't walk on the grass.
Don't spit.
Don't loiter.
Don't park.
Don't eat or drink on the train.
Don't urinate in the lift.
What else...? Well, there are warning signs everywhere, just obey those and you won't have any problems. Get the 'Singapore - Land of Fines' T-shirt as a souvenir, too.
Go to a hawker center to sample the great mix of Malaysian, Chinese, and Indian food. Try some Hokkien Mee and Tiger beer... Mmmmmm....
In general Singapore is very safe (from my experience) but use common sense like you would in any other large city - don't leave your bags unattended, and watch out for pickpockets and the occasional dishonest taxi driver.

well.. nth much to note actually. just remember no chewing gums, if you are smoking you can only smoke at desinated smoking area *even in hawker centers*...
shopping wise I think orchard rd and vivo city are great hunts now! if you are looking for younger, cheaper goods then head onto bugis, or if you can, travel on the MRT and go on to the heartlands like tampines, toa payoh, AMK, etc. great shopping at low prices~
if you are lost, just ask. most singaporeans are willing to help tourists. or get direction to the polic station =) worst come to worst, take a taxi back to your hotel (or any location you are not familiar with)
