Yes, the holocaust really did happen.

6 MILLION Jews died horribly, as did many millions of others who had the bad fortune to disagree with Hitler's policies..
There is compelling evidence from all over the globe....

*remnants of the concentration camps with gas chambers and
cremation ovens all over Europe, Auschwitz, Dachua (spelling?) and many others.

*first hand accounts of survivors from the people who were there and witnessed all of it, Elie Wiesel's book "Night", The Diary of Anne Frank

*trials and subsequent convictions of Nazi war criminals are also very telling, such as Adolph Eichmann

*monuments and memorials in (at least) Israel, the US, Germany, Poland

*and then if all else fails, there's always a good old' WW2 history book

The Jews did not suffer in Germany because there was no Holocaust. Actually it was the Jews that was torturing the poor blond haired deprived Germans. Those tattoos on the Jews arms and hands that are still alive today (by the grace of God) are really there because they want to be hip.

There's an incredible amount of historic evidence that says it did. These include eyewitness accounts from both survivors and prison guards inside the camps. There's also tax records from before and after the war which list names of people who lived and worked at specific addresses and when they last paid taxes. Most of these individuals never appear in the tax records again. If you do some digging, you'll find a lot of them on the membership rolls of synagogues.

Unless this "Mel" you mention can produce equal historical evidence contrary to this, I suggest you consider him misinformed.

Yes it did. They deny that there was any kind of intentional master plan to exterminate them, but rather they died as a consequence of their internment in concentration camps, which were, they believe, only meant to hold them until the Nazi government was able to export them.

They argue this because there is not much written evidence to support the post-war death count. That is true, but Hitler issued commands orally, as did many of his top-level officers. When Russians encroached on German held territory, they burned their documents. They intentionally destroyed documents, and we know this because many Nazi officers testified to this at the Nuremberg trials.

Incidentally, we DO have written orders and numerous recordings of Hitler and other top officers talking about destroying the Jews. Holocaust deniers believe that the common German word for destroy, ausrottung, didn’t mean destroy, it meant to remove. This is false, as we have many other documents showing the term being used in reference to such things as lice. Lice baths don’t remove the lice, it destroys them.

As for the millions of witnesses to witnesses, Deniers say they are mistaken or lying. As for the physical evidence, they say that the gas chambers were used for de-lousing cloths. As for the polls that report that 6 million Jews are missing, Deniers say that 5 and a half million just weren’t counted, then went into hiding.

I hope that the absurdity of the Holocaust Deniers’ arguments speak for themselves. Just in case they haven’t, let me emphasis that our knowledge of the holocaust was based on the facts that came to light after the Nazi government crumbled. In the 60 years since, we have learned so much, as new facts come to light all the time, and this all serves to reinforce our previous conclusions. The Nazi government DID plan to exterminate the Jews, they DID kill around 6 million, and we DO have a lot of evidence, written and physical, that lead us to that conclusion.

I can't believe anyone would deny it. There were too many witnesses, pictures, etc., for it not to be true. In fact, I had a great uncle who was a soldier in WWII. He was there when they first entered one of the concentration camps. He was never the same.

Yes, it REALLY did happen.
Sometimes some things are so very horrible that is difficult for our minds to be able to wrap themselves around it.
And to date, the Holocaust is the worst thing that has happened.
It's just really hard to imagine people doing those kinds of things to other human beings... but they did.
