Was dropping Plummer and starting Cutler a good move?

Also do you think Cutler will start next year or will we pick up a free agent QB?

I don't think starting Cutler NOW was a good move. If Shanahan was going to make a move, he should have made it earlier in the season. Now it is uncertain if the broncos will even make the playoffs.

Cutler is the QB of the future (and apparently present too). If the broncos pick up a QB, it will be to replace a backup.

Switching QBs at this point in the season was not a smart move by Shanahan. Shanahan says that only the Super Bowl matters to him, not the playoffs. The poblem with that train of thought is that you need to reach the playoffs to get to SB XLI. Cutler does not have the ability to do that at this juncture. Plummer may have had a couple bad games, but Shanahan is so focused on an idea that he has forgotten what needs to be done to attain that target. Plummer would have gotten the Broncos into the playoffs, which would then allow the team to look for a trade in the post-season to work on bulking up their rush defense (perhaps). This switch is also bothering the fans, and in Denver, that is the last thing you really want to do.

I think the way the season was going the Broncos decided to look more to the long-term and they want Cutler to be ther QB of the future. I think Cutler will be their starting QB next season.

Plummer's going to be traded in the offseason. I'm guessing he'll wind up in Tampa Bay. The Broncos obviously felt they weren't going to get ot the playoffs with Plummer, and they're probably right. So, by that logic, you do need to make the move to Cutler.

I personally think that they should have let Jake finish out the year, or at least go until he REALLY deserved being benched. But i can totally understand Mike Shanahans reasoning, he wants to aim for another super bowl, and with Cutler, they have a better chance down the road. And Jakes history in the playoffs do not help him.

Well, they both suck. I think Cutler is better though. Cutler will not be a FA for sure. He is a QB who is likely to be really good later on in his career. I think Plummer will start next year though.

I love the Broncos, but they should have dropped Jake "the Mistake" last year. I hope Cutler is good.

Cutler will be your starter for years to come and will lead Denver to some fine seasons. Unfortunately not this year.

why would you pick up a free agent QB to start for you when you spend all that money on a rookie? yeah, a free agent as a back up.
