The cerebrum is the large part of the brain, that is divided into two halves joined in the center. It is responsible for almost all of the "brain" activity, especially that of concious and subconcious thought, logic, recognition, etc.
There are two other parts, the cerebellum, which is a smaller part located at the lower back part of the brain, which controls motor skills, and the medulla oblongata, which is located at the top of the spinal cord/base of the skull, which controls involuntary functions like heart rate, breathing, etc.

The cerebrum -- which is just Latin for "brain" -- is the newest (evolutionarily) and largest part of the brain as a whole. It is here that things like perception, imagination, thought, judgment, and decision occur.

The surface of the cerebrum -- the cerebral cortex -- is composed of six thin layers of neurons, which sit on top of a large collection of white matter pathways. The cortex is heavily convoluted, so that if you were to spread it out, it would actually take up about 2 1/2 square feet (2500 sq cm). It includes about 10 billion neurons, with about 50 trillion synapses!

The convolutions have "ridges" which are called gyri (singular: gyrus), and "valleys" which are called sulci (singular: sulcus). Some of the sulci are quite pronounced and long, and serve as convenient boundaries between four areas of the cerebrum called lobes.

The furthest forward is the frontal lobe (from the Latin word for forehead). It seems to be particularly important: This lobe is responsible for voluntary movement and planning and is thought to be the most significant lobe for personality and intelligence.

Function:

Determines Intelligence

Personality

Interpretation of Sensory Impulses

Motor Function

Planning and Organization

Touch Sensation
Location:

The cerebrum is located in the anterior portion of the forebrain. It is divided into two hemispheres that are connected by the corpus callosum.

Bubbles is correct! I was thinking Cerebellum- the area responsible for motor skill and movement at first so I looked up cerebrum- the area responsible for intelligence and thought processes. I believe this is in the frontal lobe area if I'm correct. I suggest you award Bubbles the 10 points for the correct answer!

The cerebrum is the part of the brain that most people imagine when they think "brain". It is made up of two large cerebral hemispheres, and is responsible for conscious perception of stimuli (e.g. pain, temperatue, touch etc.) and also is involved with conscious control of muscles.

The cerebellum is mainly involved with the UNconscious control of muscles.
