If you like being thrilled or mystified, try something like Sammy Keyes books or the Charlie Bone series. A great fantasy author is Anne McCaffrey. She wrote many books including Dragonsong. A wonderful humorous writer is Meg Cabot. My favorite book by her would have to be Avalon High or All American Girl. Tamora Pierce (Trickster's Choice) is also amazing.

go to any good book store and then ask for the classic literature section. go to that section and then close your eyes and pick any five different sized books, you can feel the difference with your hands so you won't have to open your eyes. when you have picked five just go pay for them and go someplace to quietly read them. don't look at the titles until you open them to read and read them regardless the title. when you have read all five you will be as well educated as most college graduates and whenever you encounter a word you don't know, just hilight it and look up the defination in a dictionary. do this even when reading the newspaper if you can tolerate such tripe because it is the best way in the world to improve your vocabulary. all this would have begun by picking "blind" just five books from the right section of the bookstore. libraries are cheating because you will remember more if you actually PAY for the books and this will also be a good primer on economics which they also don't teach you in school. i hope this was helpful as i was seriously sincere in offering it to you.

Anything by Ken Follett, particularly "Pillars of the Earth." Also try Bryce Courtney. Of course taste in books is very personal so try lots. You can usually tell after a few pages if you are going to like it or not. Good luck.
