Actually, Santa Claus as we know him was an invention of The Coca Cola Corp., based on the German Kris Kringle. The German guy also has a Claus name, but I cannot remember exactly what it was. Mental block on my part. But I do know that the American version of Santa Claus that we grew up with was originally a character developed to sell more Cokes. Hence, the red and white outfit. Notice, in the rest of the world, in all of the other versions of santa which date back to the dark ages, he wears white. Thank you Coca Cola. We needed that. And thanks for the Bear too. Gotta love the Christmas Polar Bear!

My mom said he was an alcoholic who only works during the holidays and collects welfare the rest of the year. I think he was one of her clients when she worked for the government handing out food stamps back when food stamps were stamps and not some credit card thingey. Anyway, he was in his 50's at the time so I guess he is close to 70 now.

He's probably well over 200.
I can't imagine how he stays alive. Eating milk & cookies, being overweight, & being lazy for 8 months.
