Mr. Smith,
Upon visiting New York, I have learned that New York natives wave their hands and scream obscenities in traffic. It seems that even the most insignificant things can trigger this response, such as cutting someone off in traffic, snagging a cab ahead of them or just jaywalking during rush hour traffic.
I suggest that upon your visit, you stick to the subway to avoid causing a ruckus.
