I have a PhD in Cog Psych, having done my thesis on the cognitive basis of gender stereotypes, and a fair few of the formerly accepted theories have been disproven. There are definitely some cog differences, we all know that, but even with all the new info we have now it's a murky area.

Because they are different. They think different. They act different. They smell different. They feel different. They laugh different. They handle problems or situation differently. Females different moods than men. most females are sexually (or could be) many years after the comparable man is in the same age.

And all of this is something nature put in us to make us attractive to each other. The original reason nature did this was to make humans have sex, to keep the species going.
With rising intelligence humans have raised this trait to higher l Levels. We look at each other differently or most of us do. We see marriage, homes, children, and think of life wiht a mate rather than a quick 2 minute drill to produce offspring.
But this is changing. More people are choosing not to marry and more are divorced or single than married now. Women are getting taller, and larger and may eventually average the same weight, height and build as men. Women are no longer in the submissive house hold mode and every bit as capable as men to have and raise a family in a single situation.
If the present trend continues in the future there will be very little difference between males and females .

Besides, thats the old-age thing. Back then, they wanted men and women to have a difference. They didn't really want women to hold that much power..its all visible in the bible, the greeks, romans...all of then, some worshipped the women goddess, but then there was this time when the power was switched back to the men. they arn't that much difference to me.

Men just think differently apart from women. we love to be in control lol

What a lot of silly answers! A few good points - yes, we have one chromosome that is different. Yes, we have some different levels of hormones (which is what causes and maintains some of the physical body differences). But beyond that, most of it is just stuff that people like to believe... all this nonsense about men are thinking and women are feeling, men are hunters and women are gatherers, blah, blah, yada, yada, bunch of silly stereotypes. Reminds me of when they tried to prove that black people were more closely related to apes than white people. :)

Their physicalities also give them different chemistries and physiologies, making them think and react differently - for example oestrogen and testosterone levels.
