Its an age old argument but to me the saddest thing about dogs is the fact that they have been bred from wolves and wild dogs down to little scrawny 'oooo its soo cute ja know i think ill carry him around in my handbag!'(DIE HILTON DIEEEEEEE!) type dogs. Its a shame really.

Cats on the other hand when your all cosy in bed they're out all night living the high life! Catching food, fighting, having a sing song and getting frisky with the opposite sex! (more than once a night might i add!) You see, cats are smart enough to come round to your house flirt with you and act all cute then get a feed and sleep all day preparing for a big night ahead! that's true intelligence you are being used by a foot high mog!

Some might counter with the argument yes but dogs are smart they can sniff out drugs jump through hoops etc ahh but ask yourselves this..... why does a dog do this?
Dogs think that its owner is also a dog! The owner is the alpha male of the pack and the dog will obey your orders which is reinforced by the owner feeding the dog and supplying a set amount just like in the wild. The alpha will only let subordinates eat second and they will decide what they eat and how much! Dogs are fools ladies and gentlemen! they can be convinced to do all sorts of things that are useless to them! Cats will only do what they feel is benificial to them and therein lies the difference!

Phew bit of a rant there! i love both but cats are faaaar superior :)

I like both equally and cannot understand how people can be biased towards one or the other, it really annoys me when a dog person maKkes jokes about killing cats (ie "the only good cat is a dead cat"), just because they think they are a girly or less loyal than dogs. And it is vice versa for cat only lovers.

They are both the best companions and have many loveable traits!

i think it depends on where you live. if you live in a city, then i would prefer a cat so i didn't have to walk it outside, but we live in the s.w. western us, in the desert, so space is no problem. we have dogs, 5 right now. i can't really keep a cat here. the coyotes eat them, seriously. i've lost several cats to them. and also i have birds, so the cats will eat the birds if indoors. so, as much as i like cats, its only dogs for me.

I like both equally. We have two cats that act just like dogs- they love to play tug of war ( just the other day, in fact, I found them dragging my Christmas apron around the house, each tugging on a string), beg for treats, and enjoy splashing in the bathtub.

dogs are amazing , cats are beautiful . but the thing is dogs consider their master to be supreme , the one who would help the dog , unlike cats who dont have a master slave relationship . cats are much more like competitors. they would never think that their master would ever help them

Both,dogs r real fun to play with , we have regularly immune them for various infection, i.e. visit regularly a vet. and give vaccines they need every year,and happily enjoy their company for many years, someone must feed them regularly when we r out,or else take them with you if possible. cats r good too and disciplining them too is as important as dogs, to remain infection free itz very important to get the help of a VET ALWAYS.

Cats are cool. What you think is affection from your dog is just a** kissing, you see the same behavior in a pack of wolves it doesn't mean anything, other than he thinks your the alpha.

in my opinion i like dogs better becaues they are traniable ,loyal,smart,excellent compaions. They are mans best friend. also they want to be pets unlike cats that want to run free after they are cats. Yes they may look cute when they are small but when they get older they dont want to be tamed they run out the house get lost etc.
