Corporate control of our government.

The US political discourse is pretty toxic at the moment. There are real and serious problems in the world which need immediate addressing and there still significant amounts of people proccupied with red-state blue-state nonsense, convinced either Bill Clinton or George Bush was/is the Antichrist. I suspect it's neither one of them but do suspect such divisions play to those who would take advantage of the situation while we contemplate our red/blue navels.

So, I think restoring civility to public discourse is important but it will not happen in the US until something really bad happens, 9/11 style stuff only worked for about 2 weeks. Katrina didn't do it but did switch many people's thinking, So that would I suppose have to be pretty bad.

It would be nice to think that we could rationally fix our problems or put criteria for professional skills or something for politicians but I suspect we are too spoiled and comfortable to actually do the work of fixing our systems of government so they actually work.

the main severe political situation is term limits for members of Congress and all different elected officers. Congress has grow to be a corrupt cesspool of criminal interest, avarice, conceitedness and hubris. some time past, those we pick have forgotten that they are meant to be public servants, no longer privileged royalty. till we freshen up the people who're meant to be our 'leaders', all the different problems in this u . s . will proceed to be.
