Northern most point, just a few miles NE of Dunkerk is:
Latitude = 51.0932, Longitude = 2.5406
Lat = 51 degrees, 5.6 minutes North
Long = 2 degrees, 32.4 minutes East
The most West edge near Brest, few miles South West of Plouarzel is located:
Latitude = 48.4146, Longitude = -4.7983
Lat = 48 degrees, 24.9 minutes North
Long = 4 degrees, 47.9 minutes West
The is a small island West of the above area, just west of Le Conquet located:
Latitude = 48.3480, Longitude = -4.8683
Lat = 48 degrees, 20.9 minutes North
Long = 4 degrees, 52.1 minutes West
The southern most point is on the coast at the boarder between France, and Spain, just South East of Cerbere:
Latitude = 42.4359, Longitude = 3.1738
Lat = 42 degrees, 26.2 minutes North
Long = 3 degrees, 10.4 minutes East
The Eastern most point is at the point located at the French/German boarder:
Latitude = 48.9668, Longitude = 8.2322
Lat = 48 degrees, 58.0 minutes North
Long = 8 degrees, 13.9 minutes East
Of course, another great mapping site is google.
Start at www.google.com click maps, on the upper right click hybrid. This shows a satalite view, you can zoom in to the street level, with names of the streets displayed.
Try it. You can choose one of the other types, that just shows streets, or just the satalite image, but the hybrid composite is the best.

This is very easy to do with google earth. The Lat & Lon is displayed as you move the cursor.
There may be a trick to this. France has colonies (DOM TOMS) which are officially French departements.
