With the tagalog dialect. I'm full pinoy, rasied in a western culutre, english speaker naman. ang Gusto ko ay magsita atska magsulat in tagalog. Naparakis lang ako magsulat. I am not good at it yet, but at least im trying. Anyways, Meron ba, a class that will teach tagalog around Chicago? I haven't searched, but if there is, that would be great, because I just don't want to understand it fully and speak it, I want to write it correctly. Alam ko na, it's better that I speak it first, but I want the full package and start speaking and writing fluently within A year. I'm so committed, it's my new years resolution! please help me be good at it!

wow very impressive determination, i cant help you find a language school there in chicago (coz im here in the phils) that will help you learn tagalog, pero, gusto ko lang say good luck to you and kakaiba ka talaga, its not only the pinoy blood that runs into you but being a real pinoy....i cant help but relate this to rizal's "ang di marunong magmahal sa sariling wika ay daig pa ang amoy ng malansang isda" :-) i salute you

I had already answered your previous questions! Anyway, I am a Filipino American born in California but grew up here in the Philippines.
It is better that you read first what you are saying than speak and dont know the spelling. I am studying French in about.com and it is for free but I dont think there is a website to learn Tagalog.
First, I would like to correct your tenses above, hope you dont mind. It is one way of learning. Nagpapractice lang ako magsulat. Di pa ako magaling pero nagsasanay ako.

OK yan ... at least gusto mo maging Filipino in spirit and in mind. I know you are a Filipino but was raised in Chicago. Di tulad ng ibang Pinoy na lumaki sa Pinas and yet they want to forget everything about being a Filipino. It is a sad reality though.

Mag subscribe ka ng TFC para at least matuto ka ng Tagalog. Hey don't be ashamed to watch Children's Show. You might learn something from those shows. Go to Skokie or even South Side kasi I heard meron silang mga Filipino community. Attend those parties and communicate in Tagalog as much as possible.

Good luck to your New Years Resolution and Mabuhay!

HI,

It’s nice to know that you are interested to learn the Filipino language. Madali lang matutuhan ang tagalog. Palagay ko, may mga aklat na sadyang isinulat para sa mga kagaya mo na gustong matuto. Sana ay makatagpo ka ng magtuturo sa iyo.

Goodluck.

i admire these people even though they were born in another country, they still want to know their roots.. saludo ako sayo kabayan!! para madali kang matutong mag tagalog, sabihan mo ang mga kamag - anak mo dito sa pinas na padalhan ka nila ng komiks na tagalog, isa rin itong paraan para matuto kang magsalita, at sabihin mo rin sa iyong mga magulang na interesado kang matuto at tulungan ka nila, sabihan mo sila na kapag nasa bahay ka, dapat ay tagalog lang ang salita nyo.. good luck!

rosetta stone works very well. it starts out at a beginner's level and then by the time you are at the end, it'll be at a college level.
