I took a bath right away and it felt so relaxing. I put a bit of epsom salt in there and it helped out so much..

I tore pretty bad with my first son and the nurse in the hospital ran a bath for me with a little bit of powdered dreft in it. I was told that the soaking would clean the area better since you can't rub it with a washcloth or anything. You may want to ask what your doctors views are on this though.

They recommend you take a sitz bath. Do not use soap or wash the area. You fill the tub and put four cups of epsom salts inside and then when they dissolve go in and soak. It is fine to take sitz baths but make sure you do not clean the area at all..just let it soak and the salt will clean it.

I had stitches with both of my kids and both times the doctor told me six weeks. The doctor and the nurse also told me to make sure I patted, not wiped, because wiping might irritate the area. They should of gave you a squirt bottle at the hospital, put some warm water in it and use that when you go to the bathroom, that'll make you feel alot better. Also go and get you some Dermoplast spray for the stitches, that helps alot too.

When i had my kids, I tore every time.. When they were sending me home they told me to take a "sitz" baths... First you want to bleach your tub really well first then just run water as warm as you can stand it and just soak a bit... you can wash up if u want... when u r done however stand up and rinse off in the shower.

I wouldn't take a bath not yet.sitting in the water could increase your chances of getting bactiria down there and it getting infected. If you feel you need to then do a sitz bath.
