Why is it that as soon as things are going well for me something sh*tty happens to somebody I know? It's not fair. If I have a cr*p week then I can cope with that but I find it really hard to understand how fate can spit in the eye of my friends. It's not fair at all that this happens so much. I would just like one month to pass without something awful happening to a relative or friend. A few weeks ago one of my best mates had his life fall apart completely (sacked from work, his mother almost died, was involved in a car crash, his water pipes burst and he had to move into a caravan...), before that another good mate had a nervous breakdown, before that another mate had a major relationship problem. And today I found out another friend's long term boyfriend is cheating on her. Not to mention the problems my internet friends are having!
Why, oh why is life so hard to cope with?

Just to be clear - my life is going well aside from the problems my friends are having. Actually my own life is not great but I am so used to that I don't mind any more. I just want my friends to be happy.

I can't find an explanation for it. I always try to be positive, but it is difficult when things go bad for others around you that you care for. I try to help people as much i can, but some things are beyond our control. I survive with escapism such as music, books and films and try and laugh and have a joke as often as i can and hopefully pass some fun on to others.

Who told you that you should expect anything else?

Have you been influenced perhaps by the images that you are presented with in the media of rich and successful people having idealistic lives going from one success to another without a hitch? Well if so, all that is a crock. And celebrity is absolutely atypical in any event. For most, life is damned hard, and getting harder.

I've had seemingly endless runs of 'bad luck' - one thing after another after another - and yes it really did get on my t1ts after a while and you do start to wonder what the hell is going on. You have no option but to ride the storm out. Action or inaction is no guarantee that you will be free of the troubles and strife that arise. Whatever you do, which ever path you tread, these events can and do arise - that is life.

Take reponsibility for stuff that goes wrong when you acted in a way that you feel brough the situation about. Learn from your mistakes. For stuff over which you have no control, observe and take note of how things can go wrong, and try not to repeat these mistakes yourself - learn from the mistakes of others.

Apart from that I'd suggest finding good friends who you can trust and stick with them if you can. And try if at all possible to not to focus to the exclusion of all else on the bad stuff that happens - even if there is a lot of it - because you'll only make yourself feel worse.

Chin up.

It is not just you that these things happen to. This happens all over the world, to everyone. Life is not easy. The Bible says it will rain on the just and the unjust meaning stuff just happens to people no matter who they are. I am 50 years old and have had a very tough life, but I would not go back and redo it for anything. This is because I learned from each hard knock and disappointment and they have made me a wise and content person today. Life will be hard, always. The secret in making it livable is learning how to cope, properly, and look for every opportunity to make it a little better for you and others.

No kidding, life IS hard.

Relax. You've made it this far--so you can make it farther. Keep your head up and try to stay positive. Help out your friends who are going through a hard time whenever you can.

Life will bring you so much and you'll be so happy if you focus on the good stuff and keep your head up!

I've just had a month like this. Your life can be sailing along quite happily - then bam! all your problems happen at once. It IS stressful, but you can be there for your friends & family, & offer them your support. My friends got me through my crisis, I'm sure your friends will come through theirs, if you back them up & stay strong.

Good luck & have a great Christmas - you sound like you need it!!!

Life is what you make it, but at the same time, life is never easy, it takes work, and dedication to have a good, and productive life.
