You may or may not notice. Your stomach dropping usually suggests the baby has engaged (has turned and got his/her head down towards your pelvis) ready for the big event.
With one of my babies it was really noticeable, with the other not noticeable at all.
Your doctor will tell you if you are in for pretty regular check-ups, but sometimes it can happen quite fast and some babies don't turn (like breech deliveries).

Mine never did! It was my first and all that but my Dr. said that my baby wasn't even thinking about making an appearance anytime soon. I had a c-section so I didn't have my water break or anything like that either. From what I remember reading it can happen as early as six weeks before hand up until just hours before you give birth. My understating of it was more something that others can see more so than you yourself notice. I would think that you would feel even more off balanced.

When they say stomach drop, maybe it just a term or just hearsay, but i think, the only thing to know its time is, when u have a regular contraction and there's show, as now u will always feel heavy cos u are already in your full term and ready to deliver anytime, so watch out for that, and may u have a smooth delivery and speedy recovery.

You know, I didn't notice so much--but a few people said they could tell a difference almost a week before I gave birth. I think it's one of those things that really just depends on the person.
Congratulations, by the way! Enjoy your new baby! And get some sleep the first few weeks when it seems like all they do is sleep--it won't last long!

your stomach will be visibly lower. check your stomach today, using your hand as measurement. when you check again, closer to your due date, you will notice more space between your breasts and the top of your stomach. also, you may feel differently because the "dropping" is the baby lowering into your pelvic bone in preparation for birth. you may find that your balance is off, or that you are more uncomfortable in that region. GOOD LUCK and HAVE FUN!!!

"Dropping" means that the baby turns head down and gets into position to be born. This might make you feel that you are carrying lower.
When my first one dropped (6 weeks before she was due), I definitely knew it. She was born 3 days after her due date. I assumed that my second one would drop too. He never dropped. Two weeks after he was due, he was sideways. He was born 3 days later, head down, too. My doctors didn't worry, and I guess I shouldn't have either.
Don't worry. You'll have your baby soon.

Only sometimes it drops, but when it does, its very noticable, it is about 2 inches below your chest.
