that is a loaded question
first we do drill our own oil, but it doesn't satisfy our daily American needs. thus we also have to get some from other countries. As for the terroists conncections, that is somthing that the american oil bussiness doen't carea about when they buy oil. they goal is to buy cheap enough oil to meet the demand of american needs. I am sure these companies do care somewhat but a companies put iteslf first before the people it serves.
u can help us stop being dpendent on these counties by helping search for good alternate fuels/energy for us to use for our daily needs.
welcome to the complex interests of the different people/companies/organizations/governments/economies of theworld.

The US passed its peak of oil production in 1970 -- that means any oil that is left domestically now takes more oil to extract than it's worth.

The world will pass its peak soon, if it hasn't already. The majority of the remaining oil that is worth extracting is in the Middle East.

Hence our continued presence there. If we can control some country there then, in a sense, we will be drilling our own.

Don't want to support terrorists? Then don't drive, and buy local goods. Many people do it -- it's easier than you think.

Actually, your government is SMART doing that. You have a war or crisis and presto, you have domestic OIL supply.

Quite alot of oil comes from Venuesla and Canada. I know Fox news might tell you otherwise but to my knowledge Chavez is not supporting terrorism, he just does not like the Monroe doctrine (I think thats the one that says his country is in your sphere of influence) very much.

If the Saudi government ever falls, it will likely get replaced by something worse.

properly, it truly is an fairly dumb component to do. i'm not American, so i'm taking section in devil's advise right here. in case you do drill, this is sweet for the finished international except the u . s ., in case you do not drill, this is sweet to the u . s . and to no human being else. This common sense ought to look weird and wonderful to you, yet in case you do drill for oil that is actual not any further on your price range than it already is, the Saudis have higher production consistently, and the cost did not bypass down. So why ought to it bypass down if the U. S. higher production? only because this is in American land you imagine that it will immediately be lower priced? The oil that you drill from Texas is on the exact same cost than the Oil you purchase from the Saudis. the in elementary words vast difference is overseas dependency, yet wager who will be depending on who, even as each and each and every of the worlds oil is spent except American Oil? on the different hand, why do not you drill on the thousands of places that you nonetheless have? Why bypass to deep sea drilling, once you've this kind of vast quantity of factors on land? you're being performed for political causes, and oil drilling is only an excuse to blind you. this is my take on the issue.

If it weren't for the oil there would be no terrorists, no war and no reason for the problems. We want their oil and they want us gone.

Need to find another way to power the country. Almost all of the oil is controlled by opec and almost all of opec is hostile to the us. It's just the way it is.

"Greens" file lawsuits whenever any one wants to drill. Their allies in Congress block legislation to allow drilling in ANWR.
