bees carry propolis to the hives on the little hairs at the back of their rear legs where it is scraped off back in the hive by entering and exiting chambers.
Looking at bees in the garden one may have very big orangey yellow sacks behind their legs, while the others dont.
This orangey/yellow substance is propolis and a powder.
The full range of benefits of propolis have not yet been researched, but the NEW ZEALAND Agricultural department has pioneered decades of studies into their manuka honey which for some reason is superior to most others, and most health bodies use and recognise the medical value of Honey as an aid in treating open wounds and assisting a wide range of medical problems. Alone it is handicapped by the multitude of ailments, but propolis extract is a natural product on the scale of Ginseng,Euchenacia,Garlic,Aloe Vera,Comfrey etc etc

I've read Roy's version

I believe there is a supernature but I most frequently reply on a material reality perspective

from a material reality perpective the propolis active chemistry relates to the plants the bees visit. But since all bees use propolis they might look for particular propolis gunk plants to harvest.

visiting http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?db=PubMed has bunches of references

from a funny perspective as a musician you could blend propolis with rosin, then play music n see what people thought. "rosin" could do with gourmetification. I just read about stradivarius wood preservatives you could create custom rosins.

I like bees

Propolis is the material that the Beehive itself is made of and is also used for Colds,Flus,Sore Throats,as a Poltice, Immune System Enhancing,& an Anti-Inflammatory agent. The resin in too large an abundance can be mildly toxic. No company however has a prodcut on the market that has Propolis that has that much in there to cause toxicity. It is best used during the Cold and Flu Season.

Propolis is a resinous substance collected by bees from the leaf buds and bark of trees, especially poplars and conifer trees. It has antibiotic properties and helps keep the hive free of mold and bacterial growth.
