"Les Misérables (translated variously from French as The Miserable Ones, The Wretched, The Poor Ones, The Victims) (1862) is a novel by French author Victor Hugo. Among the best-known novels of the 19th century, it follows the lives and interactions of several French characters over a twenty year period in the early 19th century that includes the Napoleonic wars and subsequent decades."

"Les Misérables, commonly known as Les Mis or Les Miz, is, especially in terms of international renown, the most famous of all French musicals.

It is based on the novel Les Misérables (proper French pronunciation /le mi ze 'ʀɑbl/) by Victor Hugo. Since its Paris debut in 1980, it has become one of the most famous and most widely performed of all musicals. Its lush and beautiful Tony award-winning score offers such classic songs as "I Dreamed a Dream", "Bring Him Home", "One Day More", and the ballad "On My Own."

Philip Quast is an Australian actor perhaps best known for his role as Inspector Javert in the 10th Anniversary production of Les Misérables at the Royal Albert Hall, London.

Valentine Ruth Henshall (born March 7, 1967), known as Ruthie Henshall, is a British singer, dancer and actress.

She was born in Bromley, London, England. Henshall's early ambition was to be a ballet dancer, but she lacked the necessary physique. At the age of 19, after studying at the Laine Theatre Arts drama school in Epsom, she earned her first professional credit in the Cascade Review at the West Cliff Theatre in Clacton-on-Sea before taking part in a provincial production of A Chorus Line. She made her mark in London's West End in the late 1980s and early 1990s, appearing in Cats, Miss Saigon (graduating from the chorus to the second female lead), and Les Misérables as Fantine.

Michael Ball (born Michael Ashley Ball, on 27 June 1962 in Bromsgrove, England) is a British actor and singer, best known for musical theatre roles such as Marius in Les Misérables, Alex in Aspects of Love, and Caractacus Potts in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Hope this helps!

Of course... a Novel by Victor Hugo, turned into a stage-musical and later a movie.

Michael Ball is a very talented musical actor... sadly I don't know the others off the top of my head. Though I would GUESS that they also starred in the stage production ?
