Yes you need a Philippine Visa. Those who stay not more than 21 days does not require a visa. You can extend your 21 days visa upon your arrival in the Philippines. Check the following government websites

This Yahoo travel forum is unfortunately becoming a general Philippine forum where most questions are not related to travel.

If you are from the United States, you will need a visa to stay more than 21 days. The visa will give you a total of 59 days to stay within the Philippines, which includes the initial 21 days.

You can get a visa at the Philippines Embassy or Consulate, and you will need to provide a passport, and proof of earnings. I've gotten a Philippines visa three separate times at the Philippines consulate in Chicago. For more information, visit the web site of the Philippines Consultate which is located in downtown Chicago.

The answer is: YES, you will need a visa. People from most countries (you didn't say where you are from) get a 21 day visa at the border. You can then extend this while you are here, but expect to spend a day in the sticky immigration office. If you already know you will be here for 5 weeks, it may be easier to get the visa in advance in your country.

Lyn: you appear to be very inexperienced. The post office doesn't issue visas to foregn countries, only the consulate of that particular country can do this. Also, the US Immigration department really doesn't care if you have a visa to other countries or not.

In short the answer is yes, you will need a Visa for a stay of longer than twenty one days. The Philippine Embassy will do it for you in your home country, you will need a couple of 2" x 2" pictures, and you will have to fill in two identical forms. You process your documents and pay the fee - cash only acceptable, in the morning and you return to collect your passport with visa in the evening.

Alternatively you go to the BI office, and extend your stay, and will pay a fee. The one in Cebu I can honestly say is very efficient, and you will have no problems. Most hotels have someone who will act as courier for you, for a fee of course.

You will have a really good time here.

Incidentaly you are meant to carry at least a photocopy of your passport information page with you at all times. The chances of needing it are about as likely as getting four balls on the lottery.
You can drive for ninety days on your foreign licence.

Yes. You are allowed 21 days from your arrival to stay in the Philippines provided you have a valid passport and an onward ticket. Check with the nearest Philippine Embassy or Consulate on how much would it cost you to get a Visa and how much will it cost you to have your visa extended. That way, you have a comparison to weigh things down.

Good luck to you!

Mabuhay!

Yes (I'm referring to a passport Visa). If it's for business your company should take care of that for you.

However if you're talking about credit cards - Visa, Mastercard and American Express - all are accepted in major establishments. But small stores, services and eateries only accept cash.

Foreign guests are allowed for 21 days stay in the Philippines. Then we can process your visa waiver for another 30days then visa extensions thereafter until 6months. On the 7months, we will process your exit clearance if you still want to stay. for further assistance, pls email me at lindaltan@yahoo.com

You get 21 days visa-free. During that time you have to go to BI and get a visa good for 2 months.
