There's a ton of furniture and bedding stores along the I-85 North corridor just before you get to Jimmy Carter Blvd. On your right you'll see all the stores on Dawson Rd. I've seen those beds in a few of those shops so...

I wouldn't buy a used mattress unless a relative I knew was reasonably clean was replacing one or something. But really, you can pick up some great bargains on mattresses -- all you really need is a box set plus a metal frame to hold them. As long as you can push it up to a wall you don't really need a headboard anyway and this gives you extra possibilities for positioning the bed in the room. Check out your local mattress-only stores. They have some great deals. I would say a decent full size plus a frame should run around $2-300. No more.

A TWIN racecar bed is a bit difficult. Try Overstock.com. I did however see the toddler racecar beds in Wal-Mart for like $20 (In New Jersey)
