The procedure in NYC is to perform in showcases. Mail a flyer about your production (w/your postcard), to the talent agents. Some agents only attend showcases in which they have a client or prospective client performing.

Also, mail a flyer for your production to the sub-agents in the talent agency.

If an agent attends your showcase they will contact you ONLY if they are interested in following up with an in-office meeting. Do not call, write or phone about attending your show.

Be sure to indicate on your post-card that COMPS for agents/staff are available.

It also wouldnt hurt to mail a resume and headshot directly to agents in the area. Remember, most of the time NYC agents will freelance you at first, so you should feel free to try out a few til you find a good fit. You are more likely to be able to call after sending a headshot and resume in and get an interview in NYC than LA but itd still be tough, be sure to drop a postcard in the mail a couple weeks after if you havent heard anything to remind them you exist.
