Let me preface this by saying that I have not ever done this, nor will I, nor do I encourage anyone to try this. Just a hypothetical question.

When I have sent out letters/Christmas cards there are times when I fail to put sufficient postage on the envelope or fail to address the envelope. In each case, the post office returns the envelope to me since my name and address are in the return address portion of the envelope.

What if I addressed the envelope to me with the actual recipient marked as the return address and tried to send it out without sufficient postage. Would the post office return the letter to the person who is listed in the return address (who is actually the person I would be trying to send the letter to).

That is a good question. I would have to say that the post office will send the letter to the return address. Therefore you christmas card will get where you want it to. There is a catch to this though, if you decide to get to greedy about sending you christmas cards with the address to you and different return address, the post office will probably becom suspicious and you may find yourself if quite a bit of trouble. Thanks for the good question!!!

I dont know. depends on where your trying to send it to. if it were some place in your city then it would probably go to the actually person you want it to go to, but if it were somewhere farther away then I dont think so becasue they would probably catch on that the letter is not actually where it is coming from, but rather closer to the place it is supposed to go. so how would it have gotten to this place if it didnt have the correct postage on it.
