Santa originates from Lapland and out there they have reindeer. I've just come back from there on Saturday night with my niece. It was brilliant and christmassy but how do you explain to a 9 year old that they also eat reindeer? Not good.

That is not even a question! The question should be, why does Santa have 'Rudolf' leading the team when we all know only Female Reindeers grown Antlers in the Winter? So shouldn't 'Rudolf' be, " Rita the Red Nosed Reindeer? ????

Because he comes from Lapland where they use reindeer to pull carts and sledges so he can get them already trained and he is used to handling them. Mind you we did have a couple in the church yard last weekend

because reindeer look better, smell better, and are stronger than pigs. And one of them has a bright red nose.
