Actually, even though their chromosomes are determined upon conception, we all biologically begin as females. We start off with all the same body parts (read: sex organs) and they just shift around and change shape as we form inside the womb. When something goes wrong with this process (example, they only change part-way), this is how we get hermaphrodites.

Men have nipples because the gene that codes for nipples in human beings is neither on the x or y chromosome, but on one of the aoutosomes, which are chromosomes that occur equally in males and females. It is not known exactly, why the gene is also expressed to some extent in males and why natural selection has not caused the gene to be switched off in males. Perhaps females are not attracted to men without nipples, but perhaps the mutation has never occurred and there is not a strong selective pressure for males to lose their nipples, as male nipples are completely harmless.

The basic fetus has a lot of commonalities between men and women, although some characteristics are minimized in one or the other sex. Hormones may enhance certain features like facial hair and breast size. Most male mammals have residual nipples, so it is an evolutionary recidivist characteristic, if you believe in scientific evolution.

Hello,
This is an interesting question, I think that nipples in men (males) are a genetic throw back (remnant) from our early primordial ancestors. I'm sure that nipples did serve some useful function in our evolutionary past but clearly they dont have any obvious function in the present.

All unborn babies start off female. At a certain point in development if theyre to be male the Y chromosome causes male hormones to bre released and they develop male sex organs. the nipples are a left over .

Men's nipples are actually attached to very small mammary glands (the cells that produce milk). Certain circumstances and medications can stimulate them and cause milk production in men.
Also, if one is feeling particularly devil-may-care, you can attach a car battery to them.

A man's nipples can be described as a vestigial organ since it does not serve a function - as can his brain.
( Present community excepted of course ;o] )

I have often wondered about this myself.
The only answer I can come up with is - you women know how absolutley fascinated we men are with YOUR nipples even though we have our own. Just think how much more fascinated we would be if we didn't have any, we wouldn't leave you alone for a moment!!

setup is made so that there are organs made all the time, possibly there is a way that nipples come from there
they also have an x chromosome
