Pyrite has little industrial use. It does often contain elevated precious minerals like gold and can be a great indicater of sulfide ores. It is actually cursed by many because mining pyrite rich rock makes lots of acid and causes hihg environmental damage.

pyrite was once used as the main source of sulfur. it is used in the manufacture of sulfuric acid and sulfur dioxide.
