Why do liberals want us to fight in Africa but not in Iraq?

No one is Africa has come to our country and blown up a building as far as I know.

Africans do not work hard to bring prosperity to their own country? Couldn't they export goods like China if businesses were set up there? WHY don't they? They only like to have internal wars - not work. It has always been that way according to my history Prof.

First your question is fairly insulting. But anyways. Well most likely we invaded Iraq because of humilation and embarrassment, we suffered those at the hands of Muslim Arabs on 9-11 and we wanted revenge. The wmd thing was a farce, building democracy really (well quite obviousy) wasn't a goal of the admin; otherwise we would have acted differently also the oil thing doesnt work either because there was no unwillingness to sell oil to the US. And the bit about Saddam committing genocide was true, except the fact is at the time (late 1980s) he was our ally and we were supporting him. He never posed a serious threat to the US. By the way the people who committed 9-11 were not Afghani as an earlier answer suggested but they were in fact Saudi. That is a country that was and remains an ally- on ewe have put very little pressure on to reform, despite the fact that they support a very fundamentalist, violent sect of Islam.
Now to Africa the short answer for why liberals want to intervene is genocide is happening and intervention could save lives. Your understanding of African politics is quite shallow...Africans usually are working, for foreign owned company and they do not profit very much or at all. There is a huge business in the west, we profit off of their wars. Who do you think they buy guns from? Us. You should ask your professor, or perhaps research on your own what the efects of imperialism (past and present) have been. Africa has been essentially gang raped for 400 years. One reason (and this is just one tiny reason) for internal wars in Africa are that all the borders are artifical- completely made up when Europe carved it up for colonies. You have countries with highly heterogenous groups and ethnicities. Often europeans played these groups against each other in a 'divide and conquer' strategy, this can bee seen in Rwanda especially where almost one million people were hacked to death with machetes. This information is only a drop in the bucket of what is out there about Africa. Please take the time to educate yourself.

Because there is mass genocide, torture and rape of young children and so-called "ethnic cleansing" happening to the people in The Sudan and particularly Darfur. How very ignorant you have shown yourself to be by this question, in a country torn by civil war, poverty, drought and genocide you have the shocking gall to question why they don't export?!!! Export WHAT?! It is hard to work toward prosperity when you are being tortured, raped and murdered!!! Do I see kindred spirits? NO. I see people who are begging for our help and intervention along with the United Nations. But do you know why the US doesn't intervene?!! BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO OIL OR ANY OTHER RESOURCE WE CAN EXPLOIT!!!. The Iraqi people no longer want us there, our troops are being killed by insurgents in a lost cause. We could make a difference in Darfur. I would rather our troops be home, but if they are going to fight, let it be for a good cause!!!

Most sides are calling for intervention in the Sudan, which is taking ages because of the UN-Chad talks and very little is being done to support this end. Africa is a totally different state of being than the west, to which power is governed by local tribal groups rather than a mega-organised government like we have.
