Even if the day officially begins\ends at sunrise or sunset the birth of the Sun is at midnight. If the Sun is being worshiped and honored, then the birth or start of the calendar should be when the Sun is born.
Midnight represents the birth of the sun and it's more based on your position on the planet than it does the time, so you and the sun were being born at the same time.

Time does play significance in astrology, it can show your house placements, and a more accurate moon sign. but for that you would need your year and date aswell as the location (so they can adjust to GMT).

Another flaw of astrology is times. Do you need to have your birth time local or GMT? Do you need adjust for daylight savings? Take a look at time zone map; it shows very uneven zones and China's time is the same through the entire country.

I was born at midnight exactly, and as such my parents chose between the 26th and 27th of September. They chose the 26th because my older sister was born on the 26th of December (so lazy), and ironically my niece was later born on the 27th of September.

Nothing has any significance in Astrology; it's all made up.

It means that you must be very interested in the stars and what lies beyond, considering you are at the top of each day.

I suppose it does to astrologists. But astrology is a privative pseudoscience anyway, so who cares?
